New Delhi, Aug 29 (NationPress) By collaborating with MapmyIndia’s mapping platform, we are developing a standardised digital addressing system that will serve millions of citizens and enhance India's digital infrastructure for effective service delivery, stated Harpreet Singh, Member (Operations) of the Department of Posts (DoP), following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DoP and MapmyIndia - Mappls in the national capital.
This partnership is designed to enhance the Department of Posts’ Digital Address Code initiative, DIGIPIN, making it more accessible and user-friendly.
As part of the agreement, MapmyIndia will supply its base maps for integration into the Know Your DIGIPIN application.
This integration will enable users to generate precise DIGIPINs based on geographic locations, facilitating improved visibility across platforms.
The DIGIPIN will also be integrated into the Mappls app, allowing citizens to search for, identify, and navigate to locations using their digital addresses.
Furthermore, MapmyIndia will assign DIGIPINs to existing addresses in its database, thereby enhancing location-based services and promoting broader adoption of the system.
Rakesh Verma, Co-founder and CMD of MapmyIndia Mappls, expressed that this collaboration will lead to a fully indigenous National Digital Addressing System.
“MapmyIndia Mappls is excited to partner with The Department of Posts to establish a fully indigenous National Digital Addressing System,” Verma added.
He emphasized that the integration of the MapmyIndia suite of APIs and SDKs with the Department of Posts’ DIGIPIN applications will empower both citizens and businesses by enabling new services and solutions centered around digital addresses.
“The MapmyIndia Mappls suite of APIs and SDKs, once integrated into the Department of Posts’ DIGIPIN applications, will provide billions of Indian citizens and businesses with access to various services and solutions related to DIGIPIN, ensuring seamless access through the Mappls App,” Verma stated.
This integration is expected to benefit not only individuals but also enterprises, government agencies, and developers who can incorporate DIGIPIN into their mapping platforms and applications.
This initiative will promote an ecosystem of innovative digital services under the framework of Address as a Service (AaaS), enhancing efficiency, delivery, and accessibility nationwide.
