New Delhi, Oct 31 (NationPress) The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mappls MapmyIndia, a prominent player in India's digital mapping and geospatial technology sector, aimed at revolutionizing metro travel across the Delhi-NCR region.
This collaboration will see the integration of DMRC's metro data into the Mappls application, enabling over 35 million users to access real-time metro updates, including information on nearby stations, routes, fares, train frequencies, line changes, and estimated travel durations, all in one convenient interface.
According to DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar, this integration is set to enhance the commuting experience across the NCR. He stated, "Delhi Metro is dedicated to improving commuter convenience through innovative solutions and technology. This partnership will empower commuters to plan more effectively, navigate with ease, and save precious time."
Rakesh Verma, Co-Founder, Managing Director, and Group Chairman of MapmyIndia, emphasized that the partnership will soon introduce multi-modal transport features within the Mappls app. “The incorporation of DMRC data will expedite travel across the Delhi-NCR, making it smarter and more efficient. We are honored to support India’s goal of establishing a self-reliant, world-class technology ecosystem,” he remarked.
This initiative will enhance transparency and foster public participation through Mappls’ sophisticated Traffic and Public Engagement Platform. Users will not only receive metro travel updates but will also be able to find nearby government services, access optimized routes with estimated travel times, and report civic and traffic issues like congestion, accidents, or waterlogging directly from their smartphones.
Real-time feedback will be shared with relevant authorities, enabling a swift response and improved traffic management. Additionally, the platform will issue alerts regarding road incidents and accidents, aiding emergency services in responding quickly and ensuring safer roads for commuters throughout Delhi-NCR.
This partnership signifies a significant advancement towards developing a more intelligent and interconnected public transportation network in India’s capital region.
