Lucknow, Aug 29 (NationPress) Adani Airports revealed on Friday an ambitious investment initiative worth Rs 10,000 crore to enhance and modernize the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) in Lucknow.

This investment will occur in stages, focusing on increasing passenger capacity, upgrading amenities, integrating advanced technology, and enhancing cargo operations.

The company has already allocated Rs 2,401 crore towards the construction of a new terminal and the improvement of road infrastructure surrounding the airport.

Currently, CCSIA has the capacity to handle approximately 8 million passengers each year. With the completion of Terminal 3, Phase 2 in 2026-27, along with an additional investment of Rs 900 crore, this capacity is expected to increase to 14 million passengers annually.

As stated by Adani Airports, the expansion will incorporate 'swing operations', allowing common facilities to be utilized for both domestic and international flights based on peak demand.

This strategy aims to enhance efficiency and provide a more seamless travel experience while merging technology with elements of art and culture.

The airport currently has seven operational aerobridges and can accommodate Type D aircraft, with parking space available for 15 aircraft simultaneously.

Connectivity has consistently improved, with the airport now offering 42 direct routes, comprising 31 domestic and 11 international destinations.

International travelers make up nearly 19 percent of total passenger traffic. The airport in Lucknow significantly contributes to Uttar Pradesh's economy, accounting for about 4 percent of the state’s GDP.

Adani Airports is also prioritizing cargo development, aiming to establish a capacity of 50,000 metric tonnes over the next five years.

New international routes, including direct flights to Vietnam and Singapore, are also being planned.

This expansion project underscores Adani Airports’ long-term vision to position Lucknow as a pivotal aviation hub in Uttar Pradesh, facilitating both passenger travel and cargo trade for the region.
