Guwahati, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA), situated in Guwahati and managed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), has recorded an extraordinary growth in passenger traffic during 2024, with a significant uptick in both domestic and international travel, according to officials on Saturday.

LGBIA officials noted that the airport, which is the largest in the northeastern region, successfully catered to an impressive 6.26 million passengers in 2024.

Out of the total 6.26 million passengers served by LGBIA, 3.09 million were domestic arrivals and 3.17 million were domestic departures, as per an official statement.

AAHL operates as a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the flagship entity of the globally diversified Adani Group.

The statement further revealed that LGBIA also managed 47,578 international passenger arrivals and 38,528 international passenger departures.

Additionally, LGBIA reached a significant achievement by handling 225 MT of perishable cargo in December 2024.

On December 12, the airport set a new single-day record, managing 21,444 passengers, including transit travelers. This accomplishment highlights the efficiency of LGBIA's ongoing infrastructure enhancements, allowing for seamless and effective management of increased passenger volumes.

LGBIA has expanded its international route network, introducing direct flights to Paro (Bhutan), Malaysia, and Singapore.

The introduction of these routes has significantly boosted international passenger traffic and Aircraft Traffic Movements (ATMs).

The airport recorded 44,746 domestic ATMs and 970 international ATMs, indicating a strong commitment to enhancing connectivity and services for its passengers.

In alignment with this commitment, the airport has launched three new domestic routes: Guwahati-Ahmedabad, Guwahati-Durgapur, and Guwahati-Ziro.

These new routes are expected to further enhance connectivity and foster trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Moreover, LGBIA has seen a significant increase in cargo operations, handling a total of 10,089 MT of cargo this year.

This substantial growth in cargo volume emphasizes the airport's evolving role as a vital cargo hub in the region.

Another major achievement for LGBIA is attaining Level Two of the Airports Council International Airport Customer Experience Accreditation.

This recognition reflects the airport's dedication to providing exceptional customer service and its commitment to continuous improvement, as stated.

As LGBIA continues to reach new milestones, it remains focused on delivering outstanding travel experiences and solidifying its status as a premier gateway to the Northeast region of India.

AAHL aims to connect India's largest cities through a hub-and-spoke model leveraging the Adani Group's proven capabilities in developing and managing complex transport and logistics hubs.
