Foreign Object Debris Inspection at Guwahati Airport to Mitigate Risks

Guwahati, Jan 9 (NationPress) The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (LGBIA) in Guwahati, which is overseen by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), performed a Foreign Object Debris (FOD) inspection on Thursday at the airside to remove any possible threats, as reported by officials.

An airport representative noted that the FOD inspection is integral to the airport's dedication to safety at LGBIA. This inspection involved personnel examining the airfield and adjacent areas for FOD, aimed at pinpointing and addressing any hazards that might jeopardize the safety of aircraft, equipment, and staff.

Throughout the inspection, airport personnel scrutinized the runways, taxiways, and aprons, eliminating any debris or items that could endanger aircraft operations, according to the spokesperson.

The official mentioned that this initiative adhered to the standards established by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), India, and the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

“We are dedicated to ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly airport for our travelers and employees,” the LGBIA spokesperson remarked.

She emphasized that the FOD inspection is a crucial aspect of the safety protocol, and regular inspections will be carried out to maintain a FOD-free environment at LGBIA.

The LGBIA in Guwahati is devoted to upholding the highest safety and security standards, and it will persist in executing frequent FOD inspections as part of its ongoing safety initiatives, the spokesperson added.

She stated that the FOD walkthrough is a proactive strategy to avert accidents and ensure adherence to international safety regulations, while fostering a culture of safety among all involved parties.

By performing regular evaluations, the airport can detect and address potential hazards, thus minimizing the chance of damage to aircraft and equipment, and safeguarding all airport users, the official explained.

The LGBIA, recognized as Guwahati Airport, is the main international airport in northeastern India, situated in Borjhar, approximately 26 km from Guwahati's city center.

Named for the first Chief Minister of Assam, Gopinath Bordoloi, the airport serves as a vital passage to the northeastern states, linking the region to significant domestic and international locations. Guwahati Airport provides a variety of amenities, including retail shops, dining choices, lounges, and business services, to ensure a pleasant experience for travelers.
