Guwahati, May 21 (NationPress) The Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International (LGBI) Airport in Guwahati has marked a remarkable increase of 7.67% in the fiscal year 2024-25 compared to the previous fiscal year (2023-24), as reported by officials on Wednesday.

A representative from LGBI Airport stated that the facility effectively catered to 6.57 million passengers, comprising 3.26 million domestic arrivals and 3.30 million domestic departures, along with 91,594 international passengers, setting a new record for international traveler volume since the commencement of commercial operations on October 8, 2021.

On December 12, 2024, the airport achieved an impressive single-day record by accommodating 21,444 passengers, including transit travelers. The spokesperson highlighted that the airport has broadened its international route network, launching direct flights to Paro, Malaysia, and Singapore, which has significantly contributed to the rise in international passenger traffic and Aircraft Traffic Movements (ATMs).

According to the spokesperson, the airport recorded 45,409 domestic ATMs and 1,009 international ATMs. Additionally, three new domestic routes have been introduced: Guwahati-Ahmedabad, Guwahati-Durgapur (West Bengal), and Guwahati-Ziro (Arunachal Pradesh), improving connectivity and promoting trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

In December 2024, the airport managed 225 metric tonnes of perishable cargo, marking one of the highest monthly volumes ever recorded.
