Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow Sees Significant Rise in Passenger Numbers Surpassing 5.21 Million from April to December

Lucknow, Jan 6 (NationPress) The Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA) in Lucknow, operated by Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL), has experienced remarkable growth in passenger traffic, welcoming over 5.21 million travelers during the initial nine months of the ongoing fiscal year (April-December, 2024).
Out of these, 4.34 million passengers utilized the airport for domestic flights, while more than 0.87 million opted for international travel, reinforcing the airport’s status as a premier travel hub offering world-class amenities and services in Uttar Pradesh, as stated by AAHL, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, the leading company of the globally diversified Adani Group.
In this nine-month period, air traffic movements surged by 11 percent, totaling 38,953, compared to 35,190 movements during the same timeframe in FY 2023-24. CCSIA recorded an increase of over 5.7 percent in overall passenger traffic compared to the corresponding period of FY 2023-24.
The top three domestic routes from CCSIA were to Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, while the most favored international destinations included Muscat, Dammam, and Dubai.
This growth signifies the escalating demand for air travel from Lucknow and highlights the city’s importance for travelers from surrounding areas, as per the company’s statement.
A spokesperson from the Lucknow airport remarked: "The passenger traffic statistics and growth at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport during the first nine months of 2024-25 align with trends observed in the civil aviation sector. CCSIA affirms its dedication to providing seamless connectivity and world-class service standards at the newly opened Terminal 3. With a strong emphasis on security and safety, CCSIA guarantees a smooth and convenient experience for all travelers. As CCSIA continues to reach new milestones, it remains committed to surpassing passenger expectations and establishing new standards of excellence in the aviation industry."
CCSIA operates over 140 flights daily, catering to an average of more than 21,500 passengers each day. Recently, CCSIA launched new routes, including AirAsia Malaysia (Berhad) flights from Lucknow to Kuala Lumpur and Air India Express services from Lucknow to Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi Airport). Currently, CCSIA connects 29 domestic and 10 international destinations.
In addition, cargo operations have also shown significant improvements. In the first nine months of FY 2024-25, cargo operations grew by over 7 percent, with 16,655 metric tons (MT) processed, compared to 15,597 metric tons during the same period last year. This includes 12,700 metric tons of domestic and 4,161 metric tons of international cargo. The growth was propelled by an increase in domestic flights linking various regions of the country, as well as international flights to locations such as Dammam, Riyadh, Manila, and Muscat, the company added.
