CSMIA in Mumbai Sees 4.77 Million Passengers and Significant Cargo Growth in November

Mumbai, Dec 17 (NationPress) The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), operated by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL), sustained its growth trend in November 2024, recording a remarkable 4.77 million passengers throughout the month, alongside a significant double-digit increase in cargo activities.

The passenger figures comprised 3.4 million domestic and 1.37 million international flyers.

In November, CSMIA, managed by Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) - a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) involving AAHL with a 74 percent majority and the Airports Authority of India holding the remaining 26 percent, recorded 27,200 Air Traffic Movements (ATMs) - including 9,696 domestic ATMs (including freighters) and 7,504 international ATMs (including cargo freighters). The highest traffic day was noted on November 27, 2024, with 941 flights in one day.

This impressive performance was fueled by the heightened demand for both domestic and international air travel amid the festive season. CSMIA's expanding network and commitment to providing top-tier services were pivotal in addressing this demand, further solidifying its status as a key air travel hub, as per a company statement.

Among domestic destinations, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Goa emerged as the top three hotspots for both leisure and business travellers.

On the international side, the most popular routes included Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and London.

CSMIA also reported an impressive 11 percent growth in cargo handling, reaching 71,046 MT for the month compared to 63,924 MT in November 2023. Domestic shipments accounted for 18,653 MT, while international consignments totaled 52,393 MT. This surge was significantly driven by a 32 percent increase in the movement of automobile products, highlighting a strong growth trend in this sector.

Key domestic cargo items included consolidated cargo, engineering goods, and postal mail, while international shipments were dominated by automobiles, pharmaceuticals, and electronics. The top domestic destinations for cargo were Delhi, Bangalore, and Kolkata, with London, Frankfurt, and Dubai leading the international hubs.

Cargo operations experienced an impressive 11 percent growth relative to November 2023, which recorded 63,924 MT.

During this month, cargo operations witnessed 699 Air Traffic Movements (349 Domestic ATMs & 350 International ATMs).

"As CSMIA approaches the end of 2024, it is dedicated to retaining its role as a frontrunner in global aviation. With a focus on delivering world-class services and enhancing connectivity, the airport continues to set standards in operational excellence and customer satisfaction," the CSMIA statement highlighted.
