New Delhi, April 8 (NationPress) The building materials sector in India is witnessing a remarkable surge in hiring, with an increase of 30 percent over the last two years, fueled by rapid urbanization, infrastructure growth, and industrial expansion, according to a report released on Tuesday.

Among various sectors, pipes and steel have taken the lead, driving hiring demand due to heightened domestic consumption and global export opportunities, as stated in the report by CIEL HR.

As new technologies such as 3D printing, AI, and the Internet of Things (IoT) transform manufacturing, the need for specialized roles in material science, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing technologies is on the rise.

Companies are actively in search of skilled talent in green certifications and lifecycle analysis, indicating a shift toward sustainable and tech-oriented operations.

“India’s building materials sector is at a pivotal point, witnessing a hiring boom while employing over 550,000 professionals. As disposable incomes rise, we anticipate robust growth in the construction, urbanization, and real estate sectors,” remarked Aditya Narayan Mishra, Managing Director and CEO of CIEL HR Services.

This growth will directly enhance the building materials industry, creating new employment opportunities and fostering long-term advancement, he added.

The sector, encompassing aluminium, steel, pipes, cement, glass, and other vital segments, is undergoing a significant transformation in skills demand.

Positions frequently being filled include Plant Manager, Production Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Sales Manager, Environment and Sustainability Specialist, Design Engineer, R&D Engineer, Quality Control, Structural Engineer, and Safety Engineer, according to the report.

The study also pointed out geographic hiring trends, with 81 percent of job postings concentrated in tier-1 cities.

Hyderabad (14 percent), Bengaluru (13 percent), Delhi-NCR (12 percent), Chennai (8 percent), Ahmedabad (7 percent), and Pune (7 percent) have emerged as primary employment hubs, reflecting significant construction and infrastructure activity in these areas.

“With India's ongoing emphasis on smart cities, green construction, and industrial growth, these metropolitan areas are expected to remain key hiring locations,” the report concluded.
