A report released by CIEL HR indicates that the total hiring demand in this sector surged from 73,320 positions in 2023 to approximately 98,750 positions by 2025.

The demand for technology and engineering positions has skyrocketed, increasing more than threefold in the last two years.
Key roles such as software developers, DevOps engineers, solution architects, and AI and machine learning specialists are now central to hiring strategies.
Furthermore, the demand for supply chain and fulfillment roles has climbed by 25% during the same timeframe, according to the report.
Positions like warehouse managers, inventory controllers, and city operations leads are gaining prominence, especially among quick commerce enterprises aiming to expand into smaller cities and enhance delivery efficiency.
The report also underscores an increasing premium for advanced digital skills. Professionals skilled in artificial intelligence and machine learning are reportedly earning between 30% to 40% more than their counterparts in traditional tech roles.
Experts in fields like generative AI and large language models are commanding higher salaries, with experienced professionals in areas such as natural language processing and computer vision earning up to Rs 50 lakh annually.
As of 2025, India's gig workforce has surpassed 12 million and is predicted to nearly double to 23.5 million by 2030, the report mentioned.
Among various cities, Bengaluru and Hyderabad continue to be major hubs for technology and engineering roles, while Chennai is emerging as a hotspot for product and analytics-related professions.
