New Delhi, March 25 (NationPress) The hiring landscape in India's e-commerce and healthcare sectors is thriving in the first half of FY 2026–27, with strong demand for digital skills continuing across various industries, according to a report published on Wednesday.
The analysis by TeamLease Services noted that e-commerce and tech startups are at the forefront of hiring, reflecting a net employment change (NEC) of 8.9 percent. This is followed by the healthcare and pharmaceuticals domain at 7 percent, and manufacturing, engineering, and infrastructure sectors at 6.6 percent.
The projected NEC for this period is 4.7 percent, an increase from 4.4 percent and 2.8 percent in the previous two halves.
The report indicates that 58 percent of employers in India are planning to expand their workforce during this period, showcasing a positive hiring sentiment.
In terms of skills, digital literacy remains the most sought-after skill at 77 percent, followed by customer experience management at 68 percent and communication abilities at 61 percent.
Furthermore, capital investment, supply chain adjustments, and policy incentives are facilitating consistent hiring in manufacturing and infrastructure-linked sectors.
The enhanced sentiment is particularly evident among large enterprises, with 74 percent of firms expressing intentions to expand, compared to 57 percent of mid-sized companies and 38 percent of small businesses.
Regarding compensation, roles in electric vehicle (EV) and EV infrastructure are projected to experience the highest salary growth at 10.5 percent, followed by the fintech sector at 9.9 percent, and healthcare at 9.7 percent.
Sector-wise, the strongest hiring intent is observed in sales and marketing roles, with 54 percent of employers planning to grow their teams, followed by IT at 40 percent and finance at 39 percent, which reflects a focus on revenue generation, digital advancements, and compliance.
Balasubramanian A, Senior Vice-President at TeamLease Services, remarked that India's workforce dynamics are being increasingly influenced by structural and policy-driven changes rather than merely cyclical demands.
Geographically, hiring activities are concentrated in major urban locations, with Bengaluru leading at 67.9 percent employer expansion intent, followed by Hyderabad at 57.8 percent and Pune at 56.1 percent. Mumbai and Chennai are also experiencing steady growth in hiring momentum.
