New Delhi, July 6 (NationPress) India's engineering prowess is driving some of the globe's most advanced industries, stated Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. He emphasized the government's vision to establish India as a globally reliable partner in supply chains.
The minister noted that significant design and innovation is already taking place through various Global Capability Centres (GCCs) in India. He remarked, "Our objective is not only to design and innovate but also to patent and manufacture here, making India a globally trusted partner in supply chains."
During his visit to the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) Aerospace Special Economic Zone in Devanahalli, he commended the collaborative efforts of French giant Safran Aircraft Engines and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in the nation.
Goyal also engaged with the leadership of various units operating within the SEZ, gathering their insightful feedback and recommendations to enhance the policy-making process, as he shared in a post on X.
Last month, at the 55th Paris Air Show, Safran Aircraft Engines, a prominent French manufacturer in the aircraft engine sector, signed a partnership agreement with HAL for the industrialization and production of rotating components for LEAP engines.
This agreement is in line with the government's “Make in India” initiative, following a memorandum of understanding inked by Safran Aircraft Engines and HAL in October 2023 to foster industrial collaboration in LEAP engine parts manufacturing, along with a contract established last February for the production of forged components.
Safran Aircraft Engines is progressively enhancing its presence in India, expanding its collaboration with HAL through the production of Inconel parts.
“We take pride in broadening this enduring partnership with Safran and in advancing our industrial proficiency in forging processes for Inconel parts for the LEAP programme,” stated Dr. DK Sunil, Chairman and Managing Director of HAL.
Safran Aircraft Engines is thus reinforcing its capabilities and footprint in India, where it currently operates five production facilities across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Goa.
