Imphal, July 16 (NationPress) In a promising development, no new COVID-19 cases were documented in Manipur as of Wednesday, according to officials.
A senior representative from the Health and Family Welfare Department shared that the latest findings from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) indicated that all 15 samples tested on Wednesday were negative, resulting in a daily positivity rate of 0.00 percent.
The total number of confirmed cases in the state since June 1, 2025, stands at 326. Imphal West District is noted for having the highest number of active cases, totaling 211, followed by Imphal East with 71, Bishnupur district with 23, Thoubal with 13, Kakching with 3, and both Chandel and Tengnoupal with 2 each, along with Tamenglong having 1.
Excluding the tribal-inhabited districts of Tengnoupal, Chandel, and Tamenglong, the remaining five districts are located in the Imphal Valley, which hosts the majority of the state's population.
Most COVID-19 patients are currently under home isolation. Meanwhile, there is a continuing positive trend in recoveries, with 307 individuals having been discharged thus far. Notably, no COVID-19-related fatalities have been reported in the state.
The Director of Health Services, Chambo Gonmei, mentioned that the first COVID case in this wave was confirmed on June 9, involving a 23-year-old woman from Bishnupur district.
Director Gonmei urged residents to remain vigilant due to the infection's spread in other regions of the country.
Earlier, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla convened a review meeting at the Raj Bhavan, emphasizing the necessity for proactive measures, robust medical infrastructure, and heightened community awareness to prepare the state for any potential rise in COVID-19 cases.
