Agartala, July 16 (NationPress) Tripura is making significant strides in Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhanced governance by equipping its workforce, particularly those participating in the forthcoming census, to utilize generative AI for more rapid and intelligent decision-making.
The Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES) of the state government recently wrapped up a crucial three-day workshop titled “Generative AI for Impact: Smart Tools for Smarter Governance” on Wednesday at the Information Technology Bhawan.
This event empowered over 60 officials from DES Tripura and the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) with advanced AI tools aimed at practical governance applications.
During the valedictory session, Planning (Statistics) Minister Bikas Debbarma highlighted the transformative potential of AI in policy-making and statistical analysis.
Commending both the trainees and trainers, the Minister applauded the department's visionary approach and encouraged officials to lead the way in digital transformation through ongoing education.
Notable attendees included N.K. Santoshi, Director General, Central Statistics, MoSPI, Abhishek Chandra, Special Secretary, Planning (Statistics), Tripura, and Anil Digambar Patil, Deputy Director General, NSO.
The workshop provided hands-on experience in AI-driven drafting, summarization, forecasting using Python, prompt engineering, and data interpretation.
Santoshi praised Tripura's proactive adoption of AI, commending DES for investing in capacity building amidst a global AI revolution.
Special Secretary Chandra stressed the necessity of integrating generative AI as a fundamental governance tool rather than merely an additional skill. He also announced Tripura's goal to attract officials from other states for future AI training, capitalizing on its leadership role.
This initiative reinforces Tripura's dedication to AI-integrated governance, with aims of improved planning, expedited execution, and data-driven policymaking to establish a more effective public administration framework.
Earlier on Wednesday, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha distributed appointment letters to 184 newly appointed junior engineers under the Public Works Department (PWD) and emphasized that the age of Artificial Intelligence has arrived, urging everyone to embrace this new technology.
