The project is nearing completion, with construction now in its final stages.
Officials have reported that the blacktopping work is expected to conclude by tonight, setting the stage for a formal inauguration in just a few days.
This 250-metre-long bridge, constructed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at a cost of Rs 10 crore, will stand as the longest bridge on the Jammu-Poonch highway, significantly enhancing road connectivity in Rajouri and surrounding areas.
According to BRO Resident Engineer Sanjiv Gupta and the Project Manager (Contractor), the new bridge is projected to cut travel time between Jammu and Poonch by approximately 15 to 20 minutes, ensuring a smoother and safer journey for commuters, transporters, and emergency services.
Sushil Kumar, the Project Manager, informed IANS that the blacktopping process is underway. Upon completion, traffic will be able to bypass the current route, providing substantial relief and convenience to local residents. This bridge will be the longest on this route.
Once the blacktopping is finished, load testing and technical clearance will be conducted within the next one to two days.
Upon the successful completion of these assessments, the bridge will be opened for vehicular traffic shortly.
The completion of this bridge has ignited a wave of joy among the community, who view the project as a symbol of development and progress.
Residents have expressed appreciation to the Modi government, emphasizing that the bridge will not only shorten travel times but also stimulate trade, tourism, and overall growth in the region.
