Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 20 (NationPress) Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman officially kicked off a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at establishing five cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence, STEM, and robotics labs in government schools across Karnataka.
The initiative, named Cyient AI Labs (CyAILS) - ‘VijAIpatha’, is a national effort designed to enhance access to Artificial Intelligence, STEM, and robotics education in the public schools of Hosapete Taluka in Hampi, Karnataka.
According to a post shared on the social media platform X by Nirmala Sitharaman’s Office, “Under this pilot project, five world-class AI, STEM, and robotics labs will be set up in government schools.”
The announcement detailed that “Each lab will be outfitted with high-performance computers, AI-ready software, robotics kits, IoT devices, sensors, and secure broadband connectivity.”
The VijAIpatha program is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Digital India, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. It integrates the CBSE’s AI curriculum and seeks to bolster technology-enabled learning within public education.
Targeting rural and semi-urban regions of India, this initiative aims to introduce future technologies at the school level, fostering early digital fluency, computational thinking, and innovative capacity among students.
The project also aims to enhance early digital awareness among students, equipping them with the skills to think critically and innovate when addressing complex challenges. The VijAIpatha initiative is expected to benefit over 2,000 students and provide training to more than 200 teachers.
“By benefiting over 2,000 students and training more than 200 educators, VijAIpatha serves as a scalable CSR model that encourages innovation, career readiness, and digital empowerment at the grassroots level,” stated Nirmala Sitharaman’s Office.
Furthermore, VijAIpatha can be rolled out in various districts and states in partnership with the Education Department, and it is set to be recognized as a model CSR project for the national expansion of artificial intelligence education.
