Mumbai, March 6 (NationPress) In the fiscal year 2025-26, Maharashtra's total expenditure on salaries, pensions, and interest payments is projected to reach an unprecedented Rs 3,12,556 crore, accounting for over 50 percent of the total revenue expenditure of Rs 6,06,855 crore.
Officials announced that the estimated revenue receipts stand at Rs 5,60,964 crore.
As highlighted in the Economic Survey for 2025-26, the allocation for salaries will be Rs 1,72,760 crore (28.5 percent of total revenue expenditure), an increase from Rs 1,46,037 crore (25.9 percent) in 2024-25.
The state will allocate Rs 75,137 crore (12.4 percent) for pension payments, up from Rs 60,038 crore (10.7 percent) the previous year.
Interest payments are also set to rise, with an outlay of Rs 64,659 crore (10.7 percent), compared to Rs 54,687 crore (9.7 percent) in 2024-25.
Additionally, the government will disburse Rs 58,528 crore (9.6 percent) for other expenditures, slightly down from Rs 60,623 crore (10.8 percent) in the previous fiscal year.
For grants in aid (excluding salaries), the state plans to spend Rs 1,70,546 crore (28.1 percent), a reduction from Rs 1,78,094 crore (31.6 percent) in 2024-25.
Other expenditures will total Rs 65,225 crore (10.7 percent), reflecting an increase from Rs 63,520 crore (11.3 percent) in the prior year.
The Economic Survey projects total revenue expenditure at Rs 6,06,855 crore, compared to Rs 5,62,999 crore in 2024-25.
Notably, from October 2019 to March 2025, Maharashtra has maintained its leadership in FDI inflows in India, capturing a share of 31 percent.
Exports from Maharashtra represented 15 percent of India’s total exports during 2024-25.
Up until January 2026, software exports from the state reached Rs 1,74,798 crore.
Since the introduction of the IT and ITeS Policy 2023, up to December 2025, 37 public IT parks have been established, attracting an investment of approximately Rs 18,595 crore and creating around 2.7 lakh jobs.
As of February 10, 2026, Maharashtra leads with a 17 percent share of startups across India.
The state has registered a total of 63.85 lakh MSMEs on the Udyam registration portal by December 2025, comprising 62.11 lakh micro, 1.55 lakh small, and 0.18 lakh medium enterprises, generating approximately 252.84 lakh jobs.
Furthermore, the Maharashtra government has unveiled the Maharashtra Industries, Investment and Services Policy 2025, envisioning the state as a premier global business hub, dedicated to attracting significant investments, promoting innovation, and enhancing technology adoption.
