New Delhi, Nov 15 (NationPress) Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., recognized as the largest automobile manufacturer in the country, has initiated a recall of 39,506 Grand Vitara units due to the discovery of an issue with the fuel level indicator and warning light in certain models.
These affected vehicles were produced between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. The company indicated in a regulatory filing that the fuel level indicator may not provide an accurate reading of the fuel status in some cars, and they will inspect and replace the defective speedometer assembly at no cost to the owners.
The automaker stated, “Owners of the impacted vehicles will be contacted by Maruti Suzuki authorized dealer workshops for the inspection and replacement of the faulty component, free of charge.”
In addition, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. reported a robust sales performance for October, achieving a 7 percent increase in total sales, with 220,894 units sold compared to 206,434 units in the same month last year.
The company noted that its domestic sales, which include commercial vehicles, reached a record high of 180,675 units, an increase from 163,130 units during the same period last year.
Earlier this month, the car manufacturer reached a significant milestone, surpassing 3 crore cumulative car sales in the domestic market.
Among the three crore vehicles sold in India, the Maruti Alto stands out as the top-selling model with over 47 lakh units sold, followed by the Wagon R with approximately 34 lakh units and the Swift with more than 32 lakh units.
The company reported a 7.94 percent increase in its consolidated net profit, amounting to Rs 3,349 crore for the September quarter (Q2 FY26), driven by heightened vehicle sales and strong demand.
In the same quarter last fiscal (Q2 FY25), the net profit was recorded at Rs 3,102.5 crore, according to the company's filing with the stock exchange.
