New Delhi, Dec 29 (NationPress) The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has granted acceptance of necessity (AoN) on various proposals for the Army, Navy, and Air Force, totaling approximately Rs 79,000 crore.
"The AoN includes the procurement of Loiter Munition Systems for Artillery Regiments, Low Level Light Weight Radars, and Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System (MRLS), along with the Integrated Drone Detection & Interdiction System Mk-II for the Indian Army," an official statement noted.
The Loiter Munition will facilitate precise strikes on tactical targets, while the Low Level Light Weight Radars will be crucial in detecting and tracking small, low-flying Unmanned Aerial Systems.
The Long Range Guided Rockets will significantly boost the range and precision of the Pinaka MRLS for effectively engaging high-value targets. The Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System Mk-II, featuring enhanced range capabilities, will safeguard vital assets of the Indian Army in Tactical Battle Areas and the Hinterland.
For the Indian Navy, AoN has been approved for the acquisition of Bollard Pull (BP) Tugs, High Frequency Software Defined Radios (HF SDR) Manpack, and for leasing High Altitude Long Range (HALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS).
The introduction of BP Tugs will assist naval vessels in berthing, unberthing, and maneuvering in constrained waters/harbors. The HF SDR will enhance secure communication over long distances during boarding and landing operations, while HALE RPAS will ensure ongoing Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance and reliable Maritime Domain Awareness over the Indian Ocean Region.
For the Indian Air Force, AoN has been sanctioned for the procurement of an Automatic Take-off Landing Recording System, Astra Mk-II Missiles, a Full Mission Simulator, and SPICE-1000 Long Range Guidance Kits, among others.
The Automatic Take-off Landing Recording System will enhance the aerospace safety environment by providing high-definition, all-weather automatic recordings of landings and take-offs. The Astra Mk-II Missiles, featuring an extended range, will empower fighter aircraft to neutralize adversary aircraft from significant distances.
The Full Mission Simulator for the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas will improve pilot training in a cost-effective and safe manner, while SPICE-1000 will bolster the long-range precision strike capabilities of the Indian Air Force, the statement concluded.
