"There are significant productivity gains (from AI). This isn’t solely about Microsoft; it’s occurring right here in Korea, with diverse customers all over," Nadella remarked during the keynote address at the ‘Microsoft AI Tour 2025’ in Seoul.
He showcased South Korean firms that have adopted Microsoft’s AI solutions, including Copilot, a generative AI chatbot, to improve productivity and customer engagement, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
"It’s remarkable, whether in gaming, retail, or manufacturing. Numerous companies here are utilizing this technology to generate substantial returns on investment and real productivity improvements," he added.
Nadella underscored a partnership worth 2.4 trillion won ($1.65 billion) with KT Corp., a major South Korean telecommunications firm, established last year. He pointed out that both companies share a vision of AI significantly impacting daily life and the economy at large.
"We recognize that one of the most crucial actions we can take collectively is to ensure the widespread dissemination of AI skills," he stated.
"It is the human capital of Korea coupled with its AI capabilities that will create a flourishing economy for the future," he continued.
Nadella had a meeting with KT CEO Kim Young-shub the day before to go over the partnership details, focusing on collaboratively developing new AI models suited for the Korean language and culture, along with new cloud services tailored to Korean corporate clients.
He voiced optimism that this collaboration will further enhance South Korea's economic growth.
"Our partnership with KT aims to ensure that we can elevate the local capabilities being built around our platforms to empower the entire Korean economy," he stated.
