Bengaluru, Nov 5 (NationPress) The Nasscom Foundation has officially formed a partnership with the ONDC Network to facilitate the integration of women entrepreneurs in Karnataka into the e-commerce sector.
This collaboration has successfully onboarded 200 women-led businesses onto the ONDC Network, granting them access to vast e-commerce markets, unlocking new entrepreneurial avenues, and fostering business growth across India.
The initiative emphasizes sustainability and includes support for sellers from various fields such as handicrafts, handloom, and manufacturing, ultimately aiding in boosting their incomes and enhancing long-term business success.
“Forecasts indicate that India’s e-commerce market is expected to overtake the US, becoming the second largest globally by 2034. However, numerous small and medium-sized sellers are still grappling with a lack of digital skills, which significantly hampers their growth potential—this issue is especially pronounced for women,” stated Jyoti Sharma, CEO of Nasscom Foundation.
“Our partnership with the ONDC Network is a vital step in narrowing the digital divide by enhancing skills and empowering 200 women entrepreneurs to seamlessly navigate and thrive in online marketplaces. By leveraging technology and skill enhancement, we have provided them with equal opportunities and sustainable market connections to drive economic advancement,” she further elaborated.
This initiative spans across 22 districts in Karnataka, covering both rural and urban areas including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi, Channapatna, Belgaum, and Udupi.
It addresses critical challenges faced by women entrepreneurs, including limited market access, inadequate digital and financial skills, and a lack of prior e-commerce experience.
Participants in the initiative received hands-on support through training, cataloging, and GST registration.
Furthermore, the program developed their capabilities, connected them with various stakeholders, and ensured consistent governance for problem-solving and quality assurance.
Equipped with the right tools, skills, and resources, the initiative has empowered women entrepreneurs with vital capabilities to compete effectively in today’s business environment, enhancing their market visibility and promoting sustainable growth.
“Each woman entrepreneur embodies a narrative of resilience, determination, and ambition. Through this alliance with the Nasscom Foundation, the ONDC Network is offering the digital framework necessary for these enterprises to access broader markets and fortify their businesses. The real transformation is evident in how these women are embracing digital tools, acquiring new skills, and seizing fresh opportunities to grow their businesses,” remarked Vibhor Jain, Acting CEO and COO of ONDC.
