New Delhi, March 5 (NationPress) Telecom equipment giant Nokia is currently exporting as much as 70 percent of its production from India, providing a significant boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

As per Tarun Chhabra, Senior Vice President and Country Head of Nokia (India), the company's export levels range from 30 percent to 70 percent. Last year, exports were recorded at 50 percent, primarily consisting of radio equipment.

Recently, the company announced its support for Vodafone Idea by providing the latest 5G and 4G baseband and radio modules, as the operator prepares for the phased launch of 5G services in key markets.

Nokia is also rapidly expanding Vi's 4G network by rolling out new sites and upgrading technology, including enhancing spectrum bandwidth on existing sites.

By March 2025, Nokia aims to deliver over 60,000 technology sites along with thousands of new 4G sites. Additionally, ultra-lean sites are being deployed to enhance service quality in densely populated urban areas.

“With the increasing demand for dependable and high-performance networks, our collaboration with Vi will address the growing needs of retail consumers and businesses,” stated Chhabra.

“We have achieved rapid delivery and deployment of 5G and 4G sites for Vi. This partnership also underscores our commitment to equip our partners with cutting-edge technology, enhancing connectivity and opening up new business opportunities,” he added.

Nokia is implementing its industry-leading AirScale portfolio, which includes Multi Radio Access Technology (RAT) baseband units and radio modules, all driven by the energy-efficient ‘ReefShark System-on-Chip’ technology to provide superior coverage and capacity.
