New Delhi, Dec 2 (NationPress) Following a festive slowdown in October, white-collar hiring has gained momentum, with non-IT sectors like education and real estate experiencing significant hiring increases in November, as indicated by a report released on Tuesday.

According to the Naukri JobSpeak Index, there was a consolidated growth of +6 percent during the October-November period compared to the previous year. The report highlights that October saw a decline of -9 percent year on year (YOY), influenced by the earlier dates of Diwali this year. Conversely, November marked a strong recovery with a +23 percent increase.

While hiring in the IT sector remained stagnant, various non-IT sectors reported robust growth, as per the findings.

In November, the sectors that recorded the highest growth included education (+44 percent), real estate (+40 percent), hospitality/travel (+40 percent), and insurance (+36 percent). Additionally, the hiring for high-value positions (those offering over 20 Lakhs Per Annum (LPA)) and unicorn companies surged by +38 percent and +35 percent respectively.

Dr. Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer of Naukri, stated, “The growth in Indian white-collar hiring remains steady in the 6-7 percent range this fiscal year, and this period is no different. There is a clear shift towards non-IT sectors, alongside a persistent demand for high-value roles.”

“One noticeable trend is the increased adoption of digital hiring among smaller businesses,” he added.

The report also noted that hiring within unicorn companies surged by 35 percent YOY, particularly driven by e-commerce firms at +27 percent, with IT unicorns experiencing a +16 percent increase.

Regions such as Chennai (+49 percent), Hyderabad (+41 percent), and Delhi/NCR (+41 percent) are leading this growth.

Nationally, entry-level hiring rose by 30 percent, with non-metro areas taking the lead. Ahmedabad saw the highest growth at +41 percent, followed by Coimbatore (+32 percent) and Jaipur (+31 percent).

Moreover, Global Capability Centres (GCCs) experienced a remarkable hiring increase of +18 percent YOY, focusing on essential tech roles such as data scientists (+49 percent), solutions architects (+45 percent), full-stack developers (+36 percent), and data engineers (+33 percent).

Point of View

I believe this report highlights a significant shift in India's job market. The growth in non-IT sectors not only indicates recovery from pandemic lows but also reflects a changing demand landscape favoring diverse industries. Companies must adapt strategies to harness this momentum effectively.
