Guwahati, Nov 3 (NationPress) Union Minister for Communications and Development of the North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, delivered a keynote address at the Indo-French North-East Investment Forum here on Monday, highlighting that the northeast is rapidly becoming the new frontier of Indo-French collaboration.

The minister referred to the Forum as "a pivotal connection between vision and venture," honoring the longstanding partnership between India and France, which he remarked is “not merely based on treaties, but deeply rooted in trust.”

He stated that under the visionary guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the relations between India and France have transformed into one of the most extensive strategic partnerships globally, merging “strategy with soul, and innovation with inclusion.”

From cooperation in defense and space to advancements in clean energy, digital transformation, and sustainable cities, this partnership signifies a collective commitment to global progress, as he noted at the event here.

Scindia pointed out significant milestones achieved under the Prime Minister’s leadership—such as the International Solar Alliance launched in 2015 by PM Modi and President Francois Hollande; collaborations in smart cities and urban infrastructure; the Rafale partnership aligned with Aatmanirbhar Bharat; and the introduction of UPI at the Eiffel Tower in Paris (2024), which brought India’s fintech revolution to Europe.

“Today, we extend that light to India’s Northeast, a region swiftly evolving as the new frontier of Indo-French collaboration,” he remarked.

Scindia stressed that the area that was once perceived as landlocked is now “land-linked and future-ready.”

With investments exceeding Rs 6.2 lakh crore under the Government of India’s 10 percent GBS allocation, the region has seen the development of 6,500 kms of new roads, 900 kms of railways, and the activation of 17 airports, along with 96 percent village connectivity under BharatNet.

Pointing to existing French investments, Scindia mentioned Total Energies, Airbus, Dassault Systèmes, Decathlon, and POMA as examples of French leadership currently influencing the region’s transformation in green energy, aviation, design innovation, retail, and sustainable transport.
