To facilitate this ambitious target, NTPC has established a fully owned nuclear subsidiary, NTPC Parmanu Urja Nigam Limited (NPUNL), in accordance with the Companies Act after securing the necessary approvals.
According to the minister's written statement in the Lok Sabha, "This 30GW target is part of the government's broader vision to achieve a total of 100 GW nuclear capacity by 2047."
NTPC is in the process of developing nuclear power projects, including a joint venture with the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) known as Anu Shakti Vidyut Nigam Limited (ASHVINI), which is working on a 4X700 MW nuclear power project located in Banswara district of Rajasthan.
This facility is designated as the Mahi Banswara Rajasthan Atomic Power Project (MBRAPP), with plans to initiate testing of the first 700 MW unit by FY 2032-33.
To explore potential partnerships and collaboration opportunities with international entities, NTPC Ltd. has released an Expression of Interest (EoI), as mentioned by the minister.

It boasts an installed capacity exceeding 85 GW, with an additional 30.90 GW under development, which includes 13.3 GW of renewable energy.
With a target of reaching 60 GW of renewable capacity by 2032, NTPC is playing a vital role in supporting India’s Net Zero ambitions.
The company emphasizes its commitment to providing reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy through a diversified portfolio of thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power plants.
