Mumbai, April 1 (NationPress) Ola Electric experienced a notable downturn in its electric two-wheeler sales for March 2025, with a total of 23,430 units sold, marking a 56 percent decrease from the same month last year.

The decline has been attributed to challenges arising from the shift to in-house vehicle registrations, which commenced in February.

Nonetheless, Ola Electric reported that demand is still robust in both urban and rural areas. The manufacturer faced delays in registrations during February due to negotiations with third-party service providers, Rosmerta Digital Services Private Limited and Shimnit India Private Limited, which adversely affected its monthly VAHAN registration numbers.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ola Electric noted that it has nearly resolved the backlog from February and anticipates completing the remaining registrations for February and March in April 2025.

The company also confirmed that it is enhancing its registration processes and actively engaging with external partners to streamline operations.

Despite the annual downturn, Ola Electric's sales in March 2025 showed a substantial increase from February, with a growth of 171 percent month-on-month.

Additionally, the company began delivering its Gen 3 portfolio during this month, receiving an overwhelming customer response.

Ola has ramped up production of its new models and plans to further increase output in April to improve delivery times and customer satisfaction.

In contrast, Bajaj Auto performed exceptionally well in March, achieving a 93 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase with 34,863 units sold.

This growth was bolstered by the Gudi Padwa festival, celebrated in March this year rather than April, which stimulated customer purchases.

Bajaj’s new Chetak scooter, launched on the 3S platform, has also contributed to cost efficiencies and margin enhancements.

TVS Motor reported a 14 percent YoY growth in its electric two-wheeler sales, selling 30,454 units in March.

The company's I-Qube, now offered with a smaller battery pack, has gained traction in the market. Conversely, Ather Energy experienced an 11 percent decline in YoY sales due to heightened pre-buy demand under the FAME 2 scheme in March 2024, which had inflated last year's figures.

Hero MotoCorp and Greaves Electric made noteworthy month-on-month gains. Hero MotoCorp saw a 196 percent increase in sales compared to February, totaling 7,977 units, while Greaves Electric, known for its Ampere-branded two-wheelers, recorded a 52 percent month-on-month growth, primarily driven by the success of its newly launched Magnus scooter.
