New Delhi, June 5 (NationPress) OpenAI, collaborating with the government’s IndiaAI mission, has officially launched its inaugural international expansion of the education platform aimed at enhancing access to AI skills training throughout the nation.
The initiative, known as ‘OpenAI Academy India’, seeks to widen access to AI education and resources, leveraging India’s burgeoning developer ecosystem, digital infrastructure, and network of startups and innovators.
This program will bolster the IndiaAI Mission’s 'FutureSkills' initiative by providing AI skills training to a diverse audience, including students, developers, educators, civil servants, nonprofit leaders, and small business owners.
Offering a mix of digital and face-to-face learning tailored to India’s unique requirements, the program will be available in English and Hindi, with plans to introduce additional regional languages soon.
“This represents a pivotal advancement towards our collective goal of democratizing access to knowledge and technology. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is dedicated to ensuring that the advantages of cutting-edge innovation reach every citizen,” remarked Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Electronics and IT.
“We believe that the latest AI frameworks and tools must be broadly accessible so that our startups, developers, and researchers can innovate rapidly and effectively. The launch of OpenAI Academy will reinforce India’s AI Mission by facilitating enhanced community learning, fostering innovation, and accelerating the creation of locally relevant solutions,” Vaishnaw emphasized.
OpenAI will provide its educational material to be hosted on the iGOT Karmayogi platform, which focuses on training government officials. Initially available in English and Hindi, the content will eventually be translated into four additional regional languages.
Furthermore, OpenAI will conduct regular webinars and in-person workshops led by its experts and partners across six cities. They will also offer up to $100,000 in API Credits to 50 fellows/startups approved by the IndiaAI Mission.
Additionally, OpenAI plans to train one million teachers in utilizing Generative AI technology.
“India is one of the most vibrant nations globally for AI development, with rapid adoption and innovation occurring at an extraordinary pace,” stated Jason Kwon, Chief Strategy Officer of OpenAI.
