New Delhi, July 15 (NationPress) According to Jayant Chaudhary, Union Minister of State (I/C) at the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), more than six crore individuals in India have received training as part of the Skill India Mission.
Initiated in 2015, the Skill India Mission has transformed the youth of India into a dynamic force for change, both domestically and internationally, the Minister stated.
He characterized the past decade as ‘Kaushal ka Dashak’ and highlighted the significant changes brought about by the Mission. He also provided insights into the government's strategic plan for the future of skill development in the nation.
“Over the last ten years, through dedicated initiatives focusing on skilling, apprenticeship, entrepreneurship, global mobility, and traditional crafts, MSDE has enabled over 6 crore Indians to forge a better future for themselves and the country,” Chaudhary noted.
“Indian workers are globally recognized for their diligence and dedication. The Prime Minister acknowledged this inherent potential and directed it nationally through the Skill India Mission. Today, it stands as a formidable identity for New India,” the MoS elaborated.
In the past decade, programs such as the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) have trained over 1.64 crore youth, and more than 14,500 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) have benefited from reforms targeting quality, governance, and affiliation.
“The youth of India represent our greatest asset. As we strive towards the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047, their skills, enthusiasm, and creativity will dictate our shared future,” he emphasized, underscoring the importance of increasing employability through trust, reliability, and industry engagement.
In celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the Skill India Mission, the Minister inaugurated a week-long series of events.
This week-long celebration will feature programs, workshops, and exhibitions across ITIs, skill centers, and educational institutions nationwide.
The week will culminate in the ‘Bharat SkillNxt 2025’ event on July 22 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, where significant skilling initiatives will be unveiled, including a specialized program for AI skilling aimed at school children.
