PM Modi Reviews Major Infrastructure Initiatives Worth Over Rs 1 Lakh Crore

New Delhi, Dec 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a meeting on Friday to evaluate eight substantial infrastructure initiatives, requiring an investment of more than Rs 1 lakh crore, under the PRAGATI scheme designed to enhance development in the nation and create further job opportunities.
The initiatives encompass six urban transport Metro Projects and one each related to road connectivity and thermal power, being executed across various states and union territories, as stated by the PMO.
This review constituted the 45th session of PRAGATI, a multi-modal platform leveraging ICT for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, involving both central and state authorities.
The Prime Minister emphasized that all government officials, at both the Central and State levels, must understand that delays in projects not only increase costs but also prevent the public from obtaining the intended advantages.
During the discussions, PM Modi also examined public complaints related to the banking and insurance sectors. He acknowledged improvements in the time taken for resolution but underscored the significance of quality in addressing grievances.
As more cities are developing Metro Projects as a favored public transportation option, the Prime Minister recommended organizing workshops for knowledge sharing among cities with ongoing or planned projects, to capture best practices and lessons learned.
During the review, he also highlighted the necessity of timely rehabilitation and resettlement for families affected by projects. He directed that the ease of living for these families should be prioritized by ensuring quality facilities at their new resettlement locations.
The PM further reviewed the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, instructing that the capacity for rooftop installations in states and union territories should be increased by cultivating a robust vendor ecosystem. He also called for a reduction in the time required for the process from demand generation to the operationalization of rooftop solar systems. Additionally, he urged states to implement a saturation strategy for villages, towns, and cities in a phased approach.
Up to the 45th edition of PRAGATI meetings, a total of 363 projects costing Rs 19.12 lakh crore have been reviewed, as mentioned in the statement.
