Seoul, Nov 24 (NationPress) On Monday, the South Korean government announced its intention to roll out an information and price comparison platform for agricultural goods powered by artificial intelligence (AI) next year. This initiative is part of a larger strategy to integrate AI-based public services.
During the first meeting of a newly formed government advisory group, which includes ministers focused on science and technology, the government presented ten AI projects aimed at enhancing public services in various sectors such as consumption, healthcare, and safety, as reported by Yonhap news agency.
Among these, four flagship initiatives, including the price comparison platform, will receive 10 billion won ($6.79 million) each over the next two years, while the other projects will be allocated 3 billion won each.
The first endeavor involves creating an AI consumption information platform specifically for agricultural products. This platform will offer real-time pricing updates and recommend optimal purchase locations based on the user's proximity. It will also suggest alternatives when prices spike due to supply shortages.
The platform's test phase is anticipated to commence in the latter half of next year.
Additionally, the government plans to launch an application called the AI Safety Guardian for Human-Applied Products in 2027, which will provide ingredient and safety information for food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and cosmetics, alongside real-time licensing updates, consultation services, and legal assistance.
Another project aims to develop an AI guide for national heritage sites, offering AI-generated commentary for both domestic and international tourists without limitations of time, location, or language.
The government also intends to introduce an AI tax advisory service to help taxpayers receive timely consultations during peak filing times, featuring AI-driven phone and chatbot support.
Moreover, the initiative encompasses AI applications for police operations that include transportation management, safety monitoring, and responses to online crimes.
