New Delhi, Jan 5 (NationPress) The Maharatna public sector entity, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has recorded an impressive 37% increase in sales volume for December, reaching 2.1 million tonnes (MT). This is a marked rise from the 1.5 MT reported in December 2024.
"This achievement represents the highest performance ever recorded for December, showcasing the company's ability to reach new heights across various product segments and sales channels while effectively reducing inventory levels. Our success is attributed to a strong emphasis on customer deliveries. Recently, SAIL has also intensified its branding initiatives," the organization stated in a press release on Monday.
This monthly performance has enabled SAIL to maintain its growth trajectory in FY’26, with total sales volume hitting 14.7 MT from April to December 2025, reflecting a 17% increase compared to 12.6 MT during the same timeframe last year.
In addition to the surge in the domestic market, export volumes have seen a substantial rise, further highlighting SAIL's expanding global presence.
"The steady progress underscores SAIL's enhanced market position, customer-focused strategies, and operational excellence. This robust performance across both domestic and international markets not only solidifies the company's standing among India's leaders but is also anticipated to elevate its rank among the world’s top steel producers," the statement added.
This marks the second consecutive month of double-digit growth for the state-owned steel behemoth, following a 27% increase in sales during November.
From April to November 2025, SAIL achieved 12.7 MT in sales, representing a 14% growth over the 11.1 MT recorded in the corresponding period last year.
The company credits its remarkable growth to advancements across various product categories and distribution channels, including domestic saleable steel, road dispatches, and direct deliveries from warehouses.
