Seoul, Nov 28 (NationPress) Samsung SDI, a manufacturer of batteries and electronic materials under Samsung Group, announced on Thursday that it has named Choi Joo-sun, who previously led Samsung Display, as its new CEO amid a significant leadership restructuring.

At 61, Choi began his professional journey as an engineer within a memory chip development team at Samsung Electronics before moving into management positions, ultimately serving as the CEO of Samsung Display since late 2022.

Choi is recognized for his technical knowledge and leadership abilities, having contributed to enhancing the technological edge of semiconductors and fostering growth in the display sector, according to reports from Yonhap news agency.

The company expressed, 'We anticipate that Choi will continue to champion Samsung SDI's innovation and elevate corporate value through his extensive experience and leadership.'

In a related development, Samsung Display has promoted Vice President Yi Chung to the role of president and CEO, filling the position vacated by Choi.

To enhance its technological standing, the new CEO will take direct control of the memory unit.
