New Delhi, Nov 12 (NationPress) The low-cost airline SpiceJet announced a significantly increased consolidated net loss of Rs 621 crore for the quarter ending September 30, 2025, compared to a loss of Rs 458 crore during the same quarter last year.
According to an exchange filing, the airline's consolidated revenue from operations decreased by 13 percent, falling to Rs 792 crore from Rs 915 crore in Q2FY25.
The results from this traditionally weaker quarter were primarily influenced by the recalibration of dollar-based future obligations, the financial burden of a grounded fleet, and additional costs related to RTS.
Airspace restrictions continued to adversely affect operations, causing a significant rise in operating costs, which further impacted the quarter’s results, as noted by the airline.
In Q2 FY26, the airline recorded an operating loss of Rs 297 crore. On an EBITDAR (ex-forex) basis, the loss stood at Rs 203.80 crore, compared to a loss of Rs 58.87 crore the previous year.
“While the results reflect short-term expenses tied to fleet recovery and growth, these are strategic moves poised to yield results starting this quarter,” stated Ajay Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet.
“With aircraft additions already in progress and our network expanding swiftly, SpiceJet is set on a clear path towards improved operational and financial performance in the latter half of the year,” Singh added.
The passenger revenue per available seat kilometer (PAX RASK) reached Rs 4.04, up from Rs 3.91 in Q2 FY25, while the passenger load factor (PLF) remained strong at 84.3 percent, according to the airline's release.
“The Passenger Load Factor (PLF) of 84.3 percent highlights SpiceJet’s robust brand loyalty and customer orientation,” it concluded.
