New Delhi, Feb 20 (NationPress) The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has been pivotal in establishing a robust technological ecosystem by providing cutting-edge infrastructure and incubation support for emerging entrepreneurs nationwide, stated Jitin Prasada, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry and Electronics and IT.

Under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), STPI has inaugurated a new incubation facility in Salt Lake, Kolkata to bolster entrepreneurship and enhance IT exports from West Bengal.

“India is undergoing a transformative phase aimed at becoming the global epicenter of technology and innovation. The launch of the new STPI incubation facility in Kolkata is a clear manifestation of our steadfast dedication to nurturing innovation, supporting startups, and encouraging inclusive growth across all regions,” remarked Prasada.

STPI has been crucial in building a vibrant tech ecosystem by delivering advanced infrastructure, incubation assistance, and a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to flourish.

“As we advance into the era of Artificial Intelligence and data-driven innovation, India is committed to developing its own AI models and GPUs, ensuring equitable access for researchers, students, and startups,” the minister highlighted.

With extensive data resources and the government's promise to broaden technology access beyond metropolitan areas, “we are reducing the digital divide and unveiling opportunities in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities,” he asserted during his speech.

STPI operates 67 centers throughout India, with 59 situated in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, promoting inclusive growth and encouraging entrepreneurship beyond major urban centers, including Kolkata, Kharagpur, Siliguri, Haldia, and Durgapur in West Bengal.

The organization has also set up 24 domain-specific Centres of Entrepreneurship (CoEs) focusing on HealthTech, MedTech, Blockchain, IoT, and Agritech, among others.

According to Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, the incubation center will offer world-class infrastructure, mentorship, and market access for startups, empowering them to spearhead innovation in frontier technologies such as AI, IoT, Blockchain, and FinTech.

“The Indian government is making decisive moves to reinforce AI capabilities and improve computing infrastructure to position India as a leader in the global technology arena,” Kumar emphasized.
