New Delhi, Oct 21 (NationPress) In response to a surge in festive demand following the Goods and Services Tax (GST) reduction on automobiles, Tata Motors announced on Tuesday that it has successfully delivered over 1 lakh vehicles in the last 30 days, from Navratri to Deepawali, since the tax reforms took effect on September 22.
The automobile division of the Tata Group experienced a remarkable 33 percent Year-on-Year (YoY) increase in sales during this timeframe, with SUVs maintaining their stronghold in the market.
"During the 30 days from Navratri to Diwali, we reached an incredible milestone with over 1 lakh vehicle deliveries, indicating a solid 33 percent growth compared to the same period last year. Our SUVs continue to drive this success — with the Nexon achieving over 38,000 retail sales, marking an impressive 73 percent growth, while the Punch recorded 32,000 units, a 29 percent Year-on-Year growth,” stated Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.
The company's electric vehicle (EV) lineup also showed significant growth, with over 10,000 EVs sold during this period, a notable increase of 37 percent.
"Moreover, Tata Motors’ comprehensive portfolio of cars and SUVs has fueled this growth, strengthening our commitment to product leadership, market relevance, and delivery excellence during this vital festive season.
"We believe this achievement sets the stage for the remainder of the fiscal year, especially as we prepare for exciting new launches, supported by ongoing customer enthusiasm,” Chandra added.
Previously, industry estimates indicated that automakers achieved record deliveries, surpassing the 100,000 mark within just 24 hours on Dhanteras.
According to estimates, strong festive demand and the favorable effects of GST 2.0 reforms led the auto sector to experience one of its best single-day performances in years.
These deliveries amounted to sales ranging from Rs 8,500 to 10,000 crore in a single day, based on an average vehicle price of Rs 8.5 to 10 lakh.
Leading automotive manufacturers, including Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL), Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, and Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), reported record-breaking sales this festive season, as consumer confidence reached new heights.
