Hyderabad, Jan 20 (NationPress) Telangana's Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced on Tuesday that the state government is actively in discussions with the Union government to obtain approval for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II.
During a recent meeting with Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal, the Chief Minister emphasized that the state is taking all necessary steps to ensure the approval of Metro Phase–II.
In response to a letter from Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, CM Revanth Reddy provided details about the actions undertaken by the Telangana government.
Addressing Kishan Reddy's remark concerning the nomination of two officials to a joint committee with two officials from the Centre for the construction of Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase–II, the Chief Minister confirmed that pertinent information regarding the committee's makeup has already been shared with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
CM Revanth Reddy reiterated the state's commitment to maintaining ongoing cooperation with the Centre to gain approval for Metro Rail Phase–II and urged Kishan Reddy to leverage his influence to accelerate the long-delayed project.
In a recent letter, Kishan Reddy had encouraged the completion of the takeover of Hyderabad Metro Phase-I from Larsen and Toubro to facilitate the commencement of Phase II, which the Centre is prepared to undertake in collaboration with the state government.
He requested prompt action from the Telangana government to finalize the takeover of Phase-I and submit the essential proposals for the construction of Phase-II to the Central government.
Kishan Reddy expressed concerns regarding the delays in advancing Metro Phase-II.
The Union Minister stated that the Central government has in principle agreed to Phase-II, contingent upon the completion of the Phase-I takeover and the initiation of cooperation through the previously established Joint Committee.
