New Delhi, Aug 11 (NationPress) The electric car manufacturer Tesla, led by Elon Musk, has officially opened its inaugural showroom in the National Capital Region (NCR) at the Worldmark 3 complex in Aerocity. This marks the company's second retail outlet in India, established within just a month of its entry into the market.
Located in one of the most bustling business areas of Delhi, near Indira Gandhi International Airport, the Aerocity showroom acts as an experience center where visitors can explore the Model Y electric SUV, learn about the purchasing process, and investigate charging options.
This new location is expected to cater to customers from Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and neighboring regions.
The opening follows the visit of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who attended Tesla's debut event in India on July 15 at Maker Maxity in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex. The chief minister invited the company to consider establishing R&D and manufacturing facilities in Maharashtra.
Tesla is making a concerted effort to penetrate India's premium EV market ahead of the holiday season with the launch of this new showroom in Delhi, adding a significant metropolitan area to its retail strategy.
Currently, the company is focused on enhancing retail access and customer onboarding, though it has not yet disclosed any plans for local production or additional models for the Indian market.
The Model Y stands as the flagship vehicle in Tesla's India lineup, available in two variants: the standard Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) model priced at Rs 59.89 lakh and the Long Range RWD version at Rs 67.89 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). Deliveries are anticipated to commence in the third quarter of 2025, with bookings having opened in July.
The standard RWD Model Y is claimed to offer a range of 500 km on a single charge while the Long Range RWD version extends this to 622 km. Tesla states that the Long Range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.6 seconds, while the standard model achieves this in 5.9 seconds. Both models can reach a top speed of 201 km/h.
With a fast charger, the standard version can recover up to 238 km of range in just 15 minutes, while the Long Range can regain up to 267 km in the same timeframe.
