Tamil Nadu Enhances Naan Mudhalvan Guidelines for Industry Partnerships and Placement Standards
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 3 (NationPress) The government of Tamil Nadu has introduced updated guidelines for selecting industry partners as part of the prominent 'Naan Mudhalvan Scheme' for the academic year 2026-27. This move is part of its ongoing commitment to promote industry-oriented skill development and achieve enhanced placement results for the youth of the state.
The new regulations, which apply to Arts and Science, Engineering, and Polytechnic colleges, are designed to improve the quality, relevance, and employability of the skill training programs provided under the scheme.
This initiative is entirely funded by the state through the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) and offers free training targeted at employment for individuals aged 18 to 35.
A senior representative from the Higher Education Department noted that the chosen industry partners will take on extensive responsibilities, which include training students within colleges, developing faculty skills, and enabling industry-recognized certifications.
A critical requirement is the mandatory execution of Training of Trainers (ToT) programs. This initiative ensures that faculty members are consistently upskilled and remain knowledgeable about current industry standards.
To boost employability, industry partners must prove their connections with a minimum of 10 companies and deliver quantifiable placement data. They are also responsible for ensuring that the courses and certifications are acknowledged by relevant industries and conform to changing market requirements.
The guidelines have standardized the duration of courses. Skill training programs will last for 45 hours in Arts and Science and Engineering disciplines, while Polytechnic courses will extend to 60 hours.
Before launching faculty development initiatives, partners are required to submit detailed syllabi in the specified TNSDC format, clearly outlining learning outcomes, practical industry applications, project components, structured study materials, and assessment criteria.
Furthermore, the deployment of certified trainers for each assigned course has become a mandatory requirement.
The government has implemented a recognition system whereby exceptional training partners will be honored with certifications or awards from TNSDC for their outstanding contributions.
Students engaged in the scheme can also utilize psychometric assessments available on the Naan Mudhalvan portal to identify their strengths and better align with suitable job roles, ultimately enhancing their chances of employment.
Officials have stated that the revised framework aims to ensure improved training standards, stronger industry collaboration, and enhanced job placements within Tamil Nadu's higher education institutions.
