Mumbai, Oct 9 (NationPress) British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed his admiration on Thursday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and his vision for India, which aims to transform the nation into the world's third-largest economy by 2028.
“Your vision of Viksit Bharat intends to establish India as a completely developed nation by 2047. Everything I have observed during my visit reinforces my belief that you are on the path to achieving this goal. We aspire to be your partners in this endeavor,” PM Starmer stated.
“We collaborate in the Commonwealth and G20, and we are eager to see India claim its rightful position in the UN Security Council,” he further added.
Characterizing the UK–India trade relationship as the most ambitious trade agreement ever undertaken by India, PM Starmer expressed gratitude towards PM Modi for the collaboration. “This is a significant victory for both countries,” he emphasized.
The discussions held over the past two days between Indian and British business leaders have been remarkably fruitful, generating a palpable sense of collaboration and innovation, he noted.
PM Starmer mentioned that it was a privilege to host PM Modi in the UK in July and expressed his pleasure at returning to India just months later.
“Meeting in Mumbai, the financial epicenter of India, is particularly impactful, as the nation’s growth narrative is truly inspiring,” he commented.
Referring to the recently ratified UK-India Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) as a pivotal milestone, he stated, “We are forging a modern partnership that focuses on future opportunities.”
He added that beyond the official terms of the agreement, there exists a mutual confidence and spirit that underscores their partnership.
PM Starmer remarked that amidst global uncertainties, the India-UK partnership remains a crucial foundation for stability and economic advancement.
“We discussed peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific and West Asia, as well as the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. India advocates for all initiatives aimed at restoring peace through dialogue and diplomacy,” he concluded.
