New Delhi, July 16 (NationPress) Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Wednesday stated that ‘Urja Varta 2025’ will be instrumental in propelling India’s exploration and production (E&P) sector forward.
The second iteration of the energy dialogue, scheduled for July 17, will not only concentrate on India’s goals for energy self-sufficiency and transition but will also outline the vision of a new India in the realm of clean and green energy, particularly focusing on the ‘Fuel of the Future’ — green hydrogen.
In a post on the social media platform X, the minister expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming event, indicating that it is poised to facilitate a dynamic exchange of ideas and strategies revolving around innovation, policy reforms, and energy security.
“Urja Varta will invigorate our E&P sector. It will encompass discussions about India's energy self-reliance, energy transition, and the clean and green energy landscape, including green hydrogen, while also illuminating the vision of a new and emerging India in these fields,” the Union Minister shared.
He further mentioned that the event will unite energy ministers from various states, senior government officials, and industry leaders from the oil and gas sector.
“Crucial topics for discussion will include policy support for E&P activities, pathways for energy transition, green hydrogen development, and strategies aimed at enhancing India’s long-term energy security,” Puri noted.
Urja Varta 2025 seeks to establish itself as a pivotal platform for shaping the future of India’s energy landscape, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to sustainability and innovation within the energy sector.
Commenting on the ongoing transformation in the energy sector, Capt. Sumit Kumar, Co-Founder and Director of Marine Solutions, a prominent offshore engineering firm, remarked that India is undergoing significant changes in its energy trajectory.
“The country is balancing its traditional oil and gas demands with ambitious plans for renewable energy, LNG expansion, and strategic collaborations,” Kumar observed.
He emphasized that under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, the focus on energy security, domestic production, modernizing infrastructure, and the ‘Make in India’ initiative has unlocked tremendous potential.
‘Urja Varta 2025’ is being convened at Bharat Mandapam ahead of India’s Round X bidding for oil and gas blocks, which is recognized as the largest globally.
The oil and gas blocks offered under the Open Acreage Licensing Programme (OALP) have already attracted interest from both global and domestic energy players, and Round X is anticipated to establish new standards for participation and investment.
