New Delhi, Dec 27 (NationPress) In an effort to improve the quality of life for both pensioners and their families, the government is preparing to host the 58th Pre-Retirement Counselling Workshop in Pune on December 29.

Reflecting the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare has launched numerous forward-thinking initiatives in pension policy and the digitalization of pension-related procedures.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh will officiate the inauguration of this workshop, as stated by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions.

This workshop will feature various sessions aimed at aiding the transition for retiring employees, covering topics such as Retirement Benefits, CGHS, investment options, the BHAVISHYA portal, Integrated Pensioners Portal, Family Pension, CPENGRAMS, ANUBHAV, and Digital Life Certificate, among others.

Approximately 350 retirees from across Maharashtra, who are scheduled to retire within the next year, are expected to gain significant benefits from this pre-retirement counseling workshop.

Additionally, the Department will run a Pensioners’ Awareness Programme aimed at assisting retired officials. The 11th Bankers’ Awareness Programme for Pension Disbursing Banks will also be conducted, as per the ministry's announcement.

The main goal of these workshops is to raise awareness regarding the various rules and procedures applicable to both Pension Disbursing Banks and retirees.

Participants will have access to all pensioner-related banking services. Additionally, banks will provide guidance to retirees on how to open a pension account and invest their pension corpus into suitable schemes.

As of November 30, 2025, gross enrollment in the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) has reached a staggering 8,45,17,419. This scheme is designed to create a universal social security framework for everyone, particularly targeting the poor, underprivileged, and workers in the unorganised sector. The APY offers flexible minimum guaranteed pensions ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000 per month.

The government and the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) have implemented various initiatives to enhance awareness and participation in the APY across the nation, including in rural and remote areas of Bihar.
