Mumbai, Aug 16 (NationPress) Renowned actor Aamir Khan, who recently received the Excellence in Cinema Award, expressed his longstanding passion for storytelling on screen, which has captivated him since childhood.

Aamir was recognized for his extensive contributions to cinema and his significant impact on the film industry.

Receiving his first award in 23 years, he remarked, “I have been drawn to storytelling from a very young age. Filmmaking is a collaborative art, and this award would not have been possible without my talented writers, directors, co-stars, and the audiences who have allowed me to share these stories.”

The Best Actor (Male) accolade was awarded to Abhishek Bachchan for his role in I Want to Talk, while Gugun Kigpen received a Special Mention for Boong.

Abhishek mentioned that receiving this recognition was a full-circle moment for him.

“In 2022, I was honored with the excellence in cinema award for my body of work, but this moment is deeply emotional as I’m recognized for my performance in a film that holds great significance for me,” he shared.

He revealed that it was at this festival three years ago in Melbourne where Shoojit Sircar offered him the role in I Want to Talk.

“It was Shoojit Da who had faith in my ability to portray this character, which is a heartfelt tribute to my father and daughter, emphasizing the themes of nurturing and parenting,” Abhishek added.

Actor Arvind Swamy, who received the Leadership in Cinema Award, stated, “I consider myself a lifelong student of cinema, despite receiving this leadership recognition. I continuously seek roles that challenge me and am grateful to be acknowledged at IFFM 2025.”

Aditi Rao Hydari and Neeraj Ghaywan were also recognized among the top honorees, receiving awards for Diversity in Cinema and Best Director, respectively.

Ghaywan’s film Homebound was awarded Best Film, with Best Series going to Black Warrant. Jaideep Ahlawat was honored with the Best Actor (Male) Series for Paatal Lok Season 2. Emmy Award-winning comedian Vir Das received the Disruptor Award.
