Mumbai, March 9 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Aamir Khan graced the lunch for the Aamir Khan Film Festival in Mumbai on Sunday, just days before his birthday on March 14.

At the event, the celebrated actor engaged in a conversation with renowned screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar, who praised Khan for his daring decisions and for championing filmmakers without any fear.

Javed Akhtar remarked, “Who would have taken on the role in ‘Dangal,’ portraying an older man who faces defeat against his daughter in kushti? Most actors opt for projects from directors known for their successes. You take risks that others shy away from.”

Aamir shared that his selectivity in choosing roles began early in his career. He reflected on his initial struggles post his debut in ‘Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak,’ where he turned down numerous film offers.

The actor stated, “Even at my lowest point, I possessed the courage to decline offers. This mindset has influenced my approach ever since. Had I compromised then, my career would have been a continuous series of compromises.”

“I was offered a film by Mahesh Bhatt during a tough time in my career. However, I wasn't fond of the project and had the audacity to express my feelings to Mahesh Bhatt,” he added.

In an industry where many stars are cautious about their on-screen personas, Aamir stands out as a bold figure in Hindi cinema, willing to explore unconventional roles that aim to make significant cultural and box-office impacts.

The Rs 100 crore club emerged after his film ‘Ghajini’ became the first Hindi movie to cross the Rs 100 crore mark, establishing this milestone.

Other films that have achieved cult status include ‘Andaz Apna Apna,’ ‘Rang De Basanti,’ ‘Sarfarosh,’ ‘Taare Zameen Par,’ ‘3 Idiots,’ ‘Dil Chahta Hai,’ ‘Dangal,’ among others.
