Mumbai, March 2 (NationPress) Actor-producer Aarushi Nishank has shed light on the persistent challenges that women face in Bollywood, particularly emphasizing the ongoing gender pay gaps and disparities in the industry.
Reflecting on her journey, she noted that even with societal progress, women in the film sector still face substantial hurdles, even in the 21st century. The daughter of former Union minister and ex-Uttarakhand chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Aarushi told IANS, “Sadly, disparities remain, even in the 21st century. Women in Bollywood have long endured pay gaps and numerous challenges. Tarini also faced several obstacles, but I prefer to discuss them once the film is released and successful.”
She further stated, “This film centers on six women who overcame the odds, and we had to advocate for its acknowledgment. Women’s narratives merit greater visibility, and it’s time to alter the narrative.”
On the subject of nepotism, Nishank remarked, “The path I have chosen is certainly challenging. Interestingly, I have experienced a blend of nepotism. In one context, I am viewed as an outsider, while in another, I am perceived as a political insider. Although nepotism may offer some individuals an initial platform, success is never assured. Numerous star kids have struggled to maintain their careers. Ultimately, talent, hard work, and perseverance are the real determinants of an actor’s success.”
Aarushi also reflected on the frequent delays in the film industry, explaining how such setbacks can evolve into valuable opportunities. When asked about her views on project delays, the TEDx speaker highlighted the significance of patience in the industry.
“In the film industry, delays are a normal part of the process. Patience is crucial, and I have come to understand that everything unfolds at the appropriate time. I commenced my career with a T-Series music video titled Panhala Sahil, which was embraced by audiences and amassed over 305 million views. I have received numerous offers but have declined many projects because I prioritize quality over quantity. As I often say, one remarkable project can define your career, just as one poor decision can damage it,” she articulated.
Recently, Aarushi made headlines after alleging that two Mumbai-based producers deceived her out of Rs 4 crore. She claimed that the producer couple duped her into investing in the film “Aankhon Ki Gustakhiyan,” featuring actors Vikrant Massey and Shanaya Kapoor.
