Mumbai, June 11 (NationPress) Actor Abhishek Banerjee, known for his latest film “Stolen”, expressed that he must fully immerse himself in the character he portrays; otherwise, he cannot deliver a compelling performance.

He mentioned: “Honestly, when I first read the script for Stolen, I adored the storyline and the character, but I sensed that certain creative elements needed deeper exploration—especially concerning the character’s emotional journey. I’m the type of actor who must completely believe in the character I’m portraying, and unless I feel it in my gut, I can't truly do justice to the performance.”

Abhishek also shared his experience as an executive producer for Stolen, revealing that he had initial creative disagreements with the film’s producer, Gautam Dhingra, which almost caused him to withdraw from the project.

He added: “Gautam and I had a pretty intense argument about these changes. I was firm that if we wanted to create something truly memorable, we had to resolve those details before filming began. I wasn’t trying to be difficult; I just wanted the film to reach its highest potential.”

He expressed respect for the producer’s response to the situation.

“Instead of ignoring the issue, he flew to Delhi, discovered that I was attending an event, and came there personally to discuss it. We sat down face-to-face and addressed every point, every concern I had. He listened attentively, and we navigated through our differences together.”

Abhishek emphasized that the producer made him feel valued, which he noted is a rarity in the industry.

“It wasn’t about egos—it was about crafting the best film possible. I believe that’s what great collaborations are built on—creative disagreements that foster honest discussions, ultimately leading to a product even better than what you initially envisioned. I’m thankful to Gautam for going the extra mile to align our visions.”

“That’s what gave me the confidence to commit fully to the film. Just two days later, we were on set, and the rest is history.”

“Stolen” narrates a heart-wrenching tale of a mother whose baby is taken from her while she sleeps at a desolate railway station.

The story follows the relentless pursuit of brothers Raman and Gautam, who join Jhumpa as they navigate treacherous terrain in search of the missing child deep within India's remote hinterlands, facing hostile locals who threaten their lives, transforming their quest into a desperate fight for survival.

Directed by Karan Tejpal and co-written by Tejpal alongside Dhingra and Swapnil Salkar of Agadbumb, Stolen also features Harish Khanna, Mia Maelzer, Sahidur Rahaman, and Shubham Vardhan.
