Los Angeles, March 3 (NationPress) Hollywood actor Adrien Brody has been honored with his second Oscar for Best Actor, recognizing his performance in Brady Corbet's film “The Brutalist.”

He was in competition with notable actors including Timothée Chalamet (“A Complete Unknown”), Colman Domingo (“Sing Sing”), Ralph Fiennes (“Conclave”), and Sebastian Stan (“The Apprentice”) for the Actor in a Leading Role category.

As he approached the stage to accept his award, Brody discreetly spat his chewing gum into his hand and tossed it to his partner, Georgina Chapman, as reported by variety.com.

Towards the conclusion of his extensive speech, the Academy attempted to play him off with music.

Brody remarked: “I’m wrapping up, please turn the music off. I’ve done this before. Thank you. It’s not my first rodeo, but I will be brief.”

In 2003, Brody made history by becoming the youngest winner of this award at age 29 for his leading role in “The Pianist.” If Chalamet had won, he would have surpassed Brody's record by eight months.

Brody now joins the elite company of actors who have won the Academy Award for Best Actor twice, including Spencer Tracy, Jack Nicholson, Marlon Brando, Dustin Hoffman, Gary Cooper, Tom Hanks, Fredric March, Sean Penn, and Anthony Hopkins. Notably, Daniel Day-Lewis holds the record with three wins.

In “The Brutalist,” a three-and-a-half-hour epic, Brody portrays the fictional architect and Holocaust survivor László Tóth, who escapes from Hungary to the United States. Following a twist of fate, he embarks on a grand project for a wealthy businessman in Pennsylvania while awaiting the arrival of his wife and niece.

“The Brutalist” garnered a total of 10 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director (Corbet), and Best Supporting Performances for Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones. It is also nominated for Best Cinematography, Editing, Production Design, Original Screenplay, and Original Score.
