Los Angeles, April 18 (NationPress) Actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck opened up about the challenges he faced while portraying Batman, expressing that he truly “hated the Batsuit,” which he described as “horrendous to wear.”
In a conversation with GQ, Affleck elaborated on the physically demanding nature of wearing the Batsuit, according to reports from variety.com.
He stated: “I hated the Batsuits. The Batsuits are horrendous to wear,” Affleck remarked. “They’re hot for one thing. They don’t breathe. They’re designed solely for aesthetics. There’s no consideration given to the person wearing them.”
“As a result, you just start sweating. I’m already a person who sweats a lot, you know? So in that suit, you’d just be pouring with perspiration.”
“It made it challenging to shoot the film because you’re so overheated. It also doesn’t give you a heroic feeling, as you feel instantly drained and really sweaty,” Affleck continued.
“Maybe Christian Bale or Robert Pattinson, guys like them, were simply better at handling it.”
Affleck portrayed Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” “The Flash,” and “Justice League,” along with the extended version of “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.”
The Batsuit has faced criticism in the past, although the original director Tim Burton had more cosmetic issues with it.
In a 2022 interview with Empire, he criticized the infamous “Batnipple” suit worn by George Clooney in Joel Schumacher’s “Batman & Robin.”
Affleck recently revealed that he struggles with flirting, similar to his character Christian Wolff in ‘Accountant 2.’
Having recently divorced from Jennifer Lopez, he mentioned: “Here’s a guy trying to navigate relationships with women, figuring out how to approach that, like how to be open.”
“He’s not exactly comfortable initiating contact. He’s uncertain – just like many of us.”
The actor also addressed the broader issues of dating, stating: “It’s not easy for anyone to understand relationships, especially at the beginning, when you’re trying to decipher, ‘What does this signal mean? Is this person interested in me? Am I going to embarrass myself if I approach them?’”
