Mumbai, May 27 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Akshay Kumar, who is set to appear in the highly anticipated film 'Housefull 5', has addressed the uproar regarding Paresh Rawal’s departure from 'Hera Pheri 3'.
At the trailer launch of 'Housefull 5' in Mumbai on Tuesday, Akshay was questioned about the situation. Reports indicated that Akshay had filed a lawsuit against Paresh for INR 25 crore after the latter cited a lack of inspiration and novelty in the character of Babu Bhaiyya, a pivotal role in the 'Hera Pheri' series.
When asked by the media, who referred to the situation as “foolish,” Akshay took exception to the term used for such a respected actor.
He stated, “First of all, using a word like ‘foolish’ for my co-star is something I cannot condone. That’s inappropriate. I have known him for 32 years. We share a strong friendship, and he is an exceptional actor whom I deeply respect.”
Akshay also mentioned that he would limit his comments on the film and Paresh’s exit since the matter is currently before the courts.
“Whatever it is, I don’t believe this is the right forum to discuss it. What has transpired is serious and will be settled in court. Thus, I prefer not to comment further,” he added.
The controversy ignited when reports surfaced that Paresh Rawal had exited 'Hera Pheri 3', leaving devoted fans of the franchise heartbroken. This prompted a lawsuit from Bollywood star Akshay Kumar, who not only stars in the film but also serves as its producer following the acquisition of rights from Firoz Nadiadwala.
In response, Paresh clarified that his departure was not due to creative disputes with his long-time director Priyadarshan. He expressed profound respect for the filmmaker and emphasized that his decision was not made impulsively. Instead, it was a well-considered choice, stemming from a disconnect with the character that no longer resonated with his artistic values.
