Mumbai, Oct 11 (NationPress) Bollywood star Alia Bhatt, who is set to appear in the forthcoming action movie ‘Alpha’, is feeling reflective. On Saturday, she took to her Instagram Stories to share a nostalgic snapshot featuring Vasan Bala, the director of her film ‘Jigra’.

She captioned the image, “First meeting. Where it all began. #1YearofJigra.”

The film faced tough competition from Divya Khossla’s ‘Savi’, resulting in considerable controversy. Despite the hype, it was met with negative reviews from critics and became a box-office disappointment. The two films shared striking similarities, leading Divya to accuse Alia's co-producer, Karan Johar, of inflating box-office figures during a time when theater attendance was nearly nonexistent.

During the promotion of Jigra, Vasan Bala ignited discussions by stating he had sent a “very kaccha-pakka” (rough draft) version of the script to Karan Johar, who subsequently forwarded it to Alia Bhatt without allowing Bala to refine it with spellchecks or grammar corrections.

Some interpreted Bala’s remarks as suggesting that Alia Bhatt was not the initial choice for the film, fueling allegations of nepotism and claims of mismanagement in production communications. Producers Somen Mishra and Karan Johar clarified that Bhatt was always their preferred choice and that the script was still in its infancy, with Bala’s comments solely about presentation.

This sparked a heated discussion on social media, with some accusing him of shirking responsibility or making excuses due to the film’s lackluster box office performance.

In other news, Alia Bhatt disclosed her preferred travel spot, stating her affection for the Maasai Mara National Reserve. However, she is awaiting the opportunity to take her daughter, Raha Kapoor, as she hasn't yet reached the appropriate age for a visit to the reserve.
