Mumbai, Oct 14 (NationPress) It was a moment of immense pride for Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt during the recent Filmfare Awards held in Ahmedabad, where she was honored with the Best Actress award for her remarkable performance in the film 'Jigra'.

Although Alia was unable to attend the ceremony in person, the award was accepted on her behalf by her mentor and filmmaker Karan Johar. During the event, Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan, who was the host, provided the audience with an explanation for Alia’s absence, stating, 'Alia couldn't be here because she is currently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's movie.'

While Shah Rukh did not elaborate on the project, reports indicate that Alia is filming the much-anticipated 'Love & War', which features her husband, Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor, alongside Vicky Kaushal. The film 'Jigra' showcased yet another stellar performance from Alia, who also served as a co-producer through her company, 'Eternal Sunshine Productions', in collaboration with Karan Johar's 'Dharma Productions.'

Directed by Vasan Balan, 'Jigra' tells a poignant story of the bond between a sister and her brother as she strives to rescue him from danger. Alia expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the award on her social media, stating, 'This one will always stay closest to my heart… not just for the story we told, but for the incredible people who gave it life.'

She also extended her thanks to the filmmakers and cast, writing, 'Thank you for the honesty you brought to every frame.' Alia added, 'I wish I could’ve been there to hold that moment in person, but my heart is full all the same.'

She concluded with a special note of appreciation, acknowledging her real-life 'Jigra', @shaheenb, for her support throughout this journey.

As for 'Love & War', the film is described as a romantic drama directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, marking his reunion with Alia after 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' and promises to deliver an exceptional blend of talent.
